Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships

These scholarships are ideal for students aspiring for a PhD in Canada as it offers CAD$50,000 (£31,000) per year for three years. Moreover, students pursuing a combined master’s and PhD can also apply for this scholarship.

These scholarships are distributed between the three federal granting agencies namely- Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

For these scholarships, you need to show academic excellence in Masters’ programs in Engineering, Natural Sciences, Health, Social Sciences or Humanities.

University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships
The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships (UMGF) are merit-based awards that are open to students of any nationality who will be registered as full-time graduate students (Masters or Ph.D.) at the University of Manitoba.  The fellowships are valued at $18,000 for PhD students, or $14,000 for Master’s students for a 12-month period.

Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarships
The scholarships are open to foreign nationals (with a preference for candidates from the developing world) who are applying to a doctoral program in the social sciences and humanities or registered full-time in the first or second year of such a program at a Canadian university.  Its annual value is up to $60,000 per scholar for a maximum of three years.

 

Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan

Facilitated through student exchange agreements between Canadian and regional institutions, these scholarships help students from Commonwealth countries applying for an MS in Canada and other programs for research at the Master’s and PhD levels. The Graduate Exchange Programs (GSEP) extends through a period of five or six months and provides up to $10,000 to cover transportation and other living expenses.

University of Waterloo International Master’s Students Awards (IMSA)

The IMSA awards have been discontinued effective May 1, 2019. Students pursuing Masters who are starting in spring 2019 or later should refer to the International Master’s Award of Excellence (IMAE)

 

NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships

These scholarships extend financial support to students engaged in the natural sciences or engineering doctoral programs.

 

IDRC Doctoral Research Awards

The International Development Research Centre provides multiple awards and fellowships to students from developing countries studying at a Canadian University. Fairleigh Dickinson Scholarships for International Students – Scholarships for international students of all levels undertaking study in Canada at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Vancouver.

HEC Montréal Scholarships – Various merit- and need-based Canadian scholarships for international students at HEC Montréal, including mobility scholarships for international students.
