What is the GRE?
GRE or the Graduate Record Examination is a computer-based standardized test which is accepted for admissions in Masters and Ph.D. programs primarily across the US and Canada. (However, many international universities in various countries also accept GRE scores.)
GRE Exam has 3 sections, namely the Verbal section, the Quant Section, and the AWA (Analytical Writing Section).
An unidentified unscored section that does not count toward your score may be included and may appear in any order after the Analytical Writing section. Questions in the unscored section are being tried out either for possible use in future tests or to ensure that scores on new editions of the test are comparable to scores from earlier editions.
An identified research section that does not count toward your score may be included in place of the unscored section. The research section will always appear at the end of the test. Questions in this section are included for ETS research purposes.
What is the scoring scale for the GRE?
The AWA section grades are from 0-6 in 0.5-point increments.
The Quantitative Reasoning section scores are from 130-170 in 1-point increment.
The Verbal Reasoning section scores are from 130-170 in 1-point increment.
Total scores are from 260-340 in 1-point increment; AWA scores are separate.
