Updated: Mar 31, 2023

Many dream of pursuing higher studies abroad, but finances are an obstacles. We have found a fantastic scholarship for those wanting to go to Oxford University- The Rhodes Scholarship. Keep reading to know the in and out of the scholarship.

Background

The scholarship is one of the oldest scholarships in the world. It was first awarded in 1902. It is funded by the Rhodes Trust and over 2600 donors. Many alumni of the scholarship are renowned personalities now, including Nobel, PEN, and Pulitzer prize winners and many others are working as heads of state, University Presidents, Vice-Chancellors, etc. The trust believes in equal opportunities for all and strives to diversify the membership in the trust and the distribution of the scholarship.

Who can apply?

Those who want to pursue a full-time Post graduate degree from Oxford University can apply. The eligibility doesn’t depend on financial or marital status, but there are some age restrictions. Almost all courses are covered under the scholarship, but one should check their course eligibility at https://www.rhodeshouse.ox.ac.uk/media/46693/final-conditions-of-tenure-2020-21.pdf.

How many seats are allotted to Indians?

Every year, five scholarships are awarded to Indians. The chances of getting the scholarship are less, but the reward is worth fighting for.

What does the scholarship cover?
