Being able to study in the top universities of the world is a dream for many. But the ever-rising cost of attending these universities has made several worthy candidates unfit for such universities. According to Forbes, the price of college education increased nearly eight times faster than wages. Worse still, the student loans account for a substantial chunk of U.S. non-housing debt.

To help students realize their dreams of studying in top universities, the Government of India has launched several schemes. National Overseas Scholarship scheme, one such scheme, helps the low-income students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Laborer’s, and Traditional Artisans category to obtain higher education viz., master’s degree or Ph.D. courses by studying abroad. It is an attempt to improve their economic and social status.
