A study abroad decision is pretty landmark by itself in life. But no matter the amount of excitement or the dream of adventure, there is always a tiny voice of apprehension that keeps questioning if one is ready to take the big leap.
Moving overseas is a lot about getting mentally prepared prior to actually boarding the plane and flying through the clouds. Many times, students feel that they are ready to make the move but as soon as they land in a foreign nation, they realise that they were not genuinely prepped for the transition.

So, in case you are done and dusted with your admission procedure but you are still feeling a little lost, then here are some tips to make your sail smoother:-
RESEARCH
Research is a singular aspect that cannot be stressed enough when you are moving abroad. It is very important to know about things beforehand to not feel stranded and lonely. Today, we have the privilege of having the universe on our fingertips, so why not make the most of it. Go on the internet to find and gather as much data as you can on your university, the city where it's located, the culture, the people, the lifestyle and whatever else holds your interest. Trust me, you won't regret this!
CONNECT
It is always a capital idea to connect with people who are involved in the process because they have the experience that is reflective of their expertise. You can build these connections on professional platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter or personal media channels like Instagram. Sometimes, even a dry post to simply get associated with your batchmates works wonders. Get your queries cleared, understand the structure of the university and strike a conversation with them regarding life as a foreign student. Chances are you might actually meet them once you shift, or if not, you will at least have a little more information.
BE OPTIMISTIC
When you are moving to study abroad, it is essential to understand that there are going to be a ton of changes in your life, some major and others subtle. And you have to deal with these changes, so why not do it gracefully with a positive outlook? Embrace the turnarounds happening in your life and be easy on yourself.
SPEND TIME
In the chaos of shaping the best career for ourselves, we often forget to spend time with our loved ones and our own self. Before you go solo and move on with your life, spend valuable time with your near and dear ones. Take some time out for yourself and retrospect the pace of your life. Remember, the memories you will make with family is something you will always cherish.
STAY CREATIVE
Do not lose your creative bone in the rat race of going forward. Keep doing what you love. It will soothe you in a phase where you are disturbed or distracted. Hobbies tend to build virtues like patience and perseverance, so it is always a good idea to practise one.
As an individual beginning a new phase, you will get cold feet at times but stick to your values and keep an eye on your final goal. When you are moving abroad, set a steady pace and go with the flow, but keep your resources ready in case an unfortunate event hits. We hope that you make the most of your journey and reach your destination with a big smile.
