With the pandemic and the emergence of 'Black lives matter', many related issues have resurfaced in the education sector. With people accusing the standardized test of practicing discrimination towards people of color and low-income families, many top universities have shifted to Test-Optional and Test-flexible policies.
And with the lockdown, some universities have decided to end the test requirements and rely solely on students’ GPA and other related factors.
The Test Optional policy will allow the students to decide if they want to submit their SAT/ACT scores in their college application.
Some colleges practiced this policy just during the pandemic period. In contrast, more than 1000 institutions plan to implement the test-optional policy permanently.
The top US colleges have adopted a Test-optional policy for the year 2023.
