  • British Chevening Scholarships for International Students

Considered the most sought after to study in the UK, the British Chevening Scholarship is an International Award based scheme funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and partner organisations. It rewards excellent candidates with one year fully funded masters degree within 150 Universities, involving over 12,000 courses. With a sum of ₹15,80,000 (approx.), the tuition fees, monthly stipend, travel cost, arrival allowance, cost of one visa application is taken care of. If you have a bachelor's degree, preferably with honours and at least two years of work experience (equivalent to 2800 hours), you can apply. Additionally, you must have received an unconditional offer from one university you used for, along with good English proficiency test scores. Conditionally, you must return to the country of your origin for at least two years after the duration of your award ends. The application process begins in August each year, concluding in November, so prepare your documents beforehand.


  • Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan

Another scholarship offered by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, CWS, provides financial assistance to the students of Commonwealth Nations. They otherwise would not be able to afford to study in. The scholarship covers your tuition fees, approved fares, and personal maintenance during your master degree/diploma/certificate. The UK. Eligibility criteria require you to be a permanent resident of any Commonwealth Nation, must hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) or a second class degree (2:2). You are no longer required to submit your IELTS score. It is suggested to have all your documents ready by September, even when the deadlines usually are set for December each year


  • Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships (CWIT)

If you are an Indian looking to go abroad in the middle years of your career, this is for you. Another critical scholarship for Indian students to study in the UK, the CWIT scholarship, is awarded by Charles Wallace India Trust, in partnership with British Council India. The grant enables artists and heritage professionals aged between 28-38 years to pursue a post-graduation study of one year. The candidates must possess their first degree/diploma/ professional certification in their area of work. IELTS certification is mandatory. The grant covers accommodation, living costs, tuition fees and £600 for travelling expenses. The recipient is required to cover their insurance for medical or travel emergencies. The deadline closes at the end of December each year, but an extension till January of next year can be expected.


  • Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Scholarships

Now renamed as Erasmus+, this scholarship programme was started by the European Union to improve international relations; this scholarship programme gives students financial aid who wish to pursue a postgraduate degree from any of the institutions affiliated with the Erasmus Mundus programme. The programme includes various courses in different project locations across the EU nations and has separate eligibility concerning multiple classes. Still, the general criteria include academically brilliant students possessing extensive knowledge of their fields, holding a graduation degree. Bearing the tuition fees, library and laboratory costs, insurance coverage, a monthly subsistence allowance, and other miscellaneous expenses, this fund benefitted over 150 Indian students in 2021. Look out for their applications from October of each year.

  • GREAT Scholarships

For Indian students, the number of higher education students increased from 12 to 18 in 2022, including various post-graduation courses. Jointly provided by the Government of UK's GREAT Britain Campaign and British Council since 2018, it is one of the newest financial grants. The grantee must be a citizen of India with an undergraduate degree and meet the English proficiency requirement of the UK HEI. The amount of each scholarship is a minimum of £10,000, an equivalent of one year's tuition fees. Each university's application process is governed individually, so the deadlines vary and have to be checked on their respective websites.
